Loves lament

If I loved you forever I could love you no more, I swear these words are true.
With no more tears too late to cry, I know not what to do.
The shadow of enchantments loss is viscous dark and cold.
Happily ever after exists in dreams, it's just a tale that's told.
Devoid of malice I choose my words and still they cause you pain.
You weep through nights of loneliness and long for love again.
I am not what I wish to be as lifes' laments unfold.
It's true for every stone we cast there is a dreadful toll.
I blame not for what I am, it is the path I chose.
Now the fitful sleeper wakes, a dream draws to a close.
